Gold (XAU/USD) is currently under pressure, and the market is waiting for more news about the trade agreement before Wednesday's tariff deadline.

Liquidity and trading volume increased on Monday as the U.S. returned to financial markets after Friday’s Independence Day holiday.
U.S. yields also rose after Thursday’s Non-farm Employment Report (NFP) showed a strong labor market. This lowers the prospect of the Fed's interest rate cut in July. Positive economic data eased concerns about a slowdown and pushed the dollar to strengthen.
The expectation that interest rates will remain at higher levels for a longer period of time is detrimental to non-yield assets such as gold.
Gold Technical Analysis: XAU/USD is moving towards the triangle support level
The current daily chart of gold shows that the price is integrated within a symmetrical triangle, indicating that the possibility of a breakthrough increases as the range narrows. This tightening pattern reflects growing pressure and usually heralds the arrival of major directional changes.
Recently, XAU/USD fell below the 20-day simple moving average (SMA) $3348 and the 50-day SMA $3320. The price is also close to the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level of $3292, a key support area that will help determine the near-term direction.
If the latter fails, the downside targets include the 50% and 61.8% Fibonacci retracement levels, which are $3228 and $3164, respectively.
However, if the price can be kept above $3,300And rebound, there may be a bullish reversal. In this case, the first upside goal will be to regain the 50-day SMA, followed by the 20-day SMA. If the breakthrough of the triangle resistance and the 23.6% Fibonacci level is confirmed to be $3371, it will open the door for further gains and may move towards the psychological resistance of $3400.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is close to 45, reflecting a moderate bearish momentum, but there is plenty of room before entering the oversold zone.
