On Thursday, the pound fell 0.27% against the dollar, after a previous U.S. jobs report showed a solid labor market, reducing the possibility of the Fed's interest rate cut at its July meeting. As of press time, GBP/USD was traded at 1.3550, reaching a high of 1.3619.

The pound fell to 1.3550, with strong unemployment benefits hitting dovish bets, and the UK's macro outlook remains sluggish. So far this week, the pound fell more than 0.65% against the US dollar, and the UK's economic schedule is sparse. The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) reported that the number of initial unemployment claims fell to 227,000 in the week ended July 5, down from 232,000 in the previous week, down from 232,000 in the previous week, down from 235,000 in the expected 235,000.

Although data suggests that the labor market is strong, the number of continued unemployment benefits rose to its highest level in three and a half years, reaching 1.97 million last week.

At the same time, Alberto Mousalem, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, said the economy is in a good state and the labor market is close to or reaching full employment. Next, the economic schedule will include speeches from Fed officials, led mainly by Director Christopher Waller and San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly. Across the Atlantic, the UK schedule will release gross domestic product (GDP) data as well as industrial and manufacturing output.

GBP/USD Price Forecast: Technical Outlook

GBP/USD Daily Chart maintains an upward bias, despite strong resistance at the 20-day simple moving average of 1.3592. Once the pair falls below this level, there will be a chance to challenge the 1.3500 mark, followed by the 50-day simple moving average of 1.3487.

However, the current pullback appears to be weakening, and although the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has turned bearish, it has not yet broken through the 40 level. If the breakthrough is made, it will indicate that the seller significantly exceeds the buyer.

In the upside, the recovery to 1.3600 will pave the way for testing this week's high of 1.3657.
